A Call for Support:

Unlocking Artistic Potential

In the realm of performance, there exists a transformative moment when the audience seamlessly merges with the artistry unfolding before them. It's a palpable connection, linking observers to the harmonies of a song or the nuanced expressions of an actor. Think back to the rise of your eyebrows in sync with a crystal-clear note or the rhythmic sway induced by a dancer gracefully leaping across the stage.

Salt Lake School for the Performing Arts, established in August 2006, has been a nurturing ground for young, aspiring artists for the past eighteen years. Here, students not only hone their craft but also evolve into independent thinkers. The skills acquired through artistic studies extend beyond the stage, influencing all facets of their lives and future education.

From its inception, Salt Lake School for the Performing Arts has stood out in the educational landscape. Early triumphs at the Shakespeare Festival and accolades at regional and state competitions propelled SPA into the transformation of an empty Salt Lake School District Building – Rosslyn Heights Elementary School.

Our dedicated stakeholders, deeply connected to SPA's mission of cultivating greatness on and off stage, spearheaded the renovation of the disused elementary school. This transformation birthed a creative space, complete with an auditorium, black box theatre, and scene shop. This building became our home, fostering an environment where performances expanded, and individual student growth took precedence. With an expanded faculty, continued award-winning streaks, and graduates securing spots in renowned university programs worldwide, SPA has continually flourished.

SPA faced the challenges of the COVID era with the same grit and tenacity ingrained in its fabric. During this period, we forged connections with professional companies across the United States, from New York City to California. Graduates diversified into fields like politics, healthcare, journalism, and entrepreneurship.

In August 2023, SPA relocated to the Oquirrh School Building, a historical landmark embodying the resilience and artistic essence of the Salt Lake School for the Performing Arts. Operating on a tight budget and timeline, we transformed the space to accommodate music, theatre, dance, media, and apparel design classes. Upon opening our doors later that month, we knew a miracle had occurred. Our commitment to students deepened as we brought academics in-house and transformed our lobby into a professional performance space almost daily. With our new downtown location, a partnership with Broadway Across America unfolded, providing our students with unprecedented opportunities. Monthly masterclasses and experiences with Broadway professionals have become integral to our curriculum, making this partnership truly unique.

Can you recall that magnetic pull as an audience member? The tethering to art, creating something new in collaboration with performers and observers alike. This is your invitation to act – come witness, contribute, and immerse yourself in the profound connection of the performing arts.
