Originally from sunny Southern California, Katelin Knight holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre and a Bachelor of Arts in Dance Performance from Southern Utah University. She graduated Summa Cum Laude and as Outstanding Graduate in Dance for the Department of Performing and Visual Arts. She was awarded the Tour De Force award for excellence in involvement in theatre arts and dance, as well as the award for Best Tap Dancer 4 years in a row. She was involved in multiple choirs including Opus Chamber Choir and Women’s Ensemble and was an active member of Orchesis Dance Company.
Mrs. Knight has performed professionally as a dancer, singer, and actor with the Utah Shakespeare Festival, the Utah Opera, the Utah Festival Opera and Musical Theatre, Hale Center Theatre Orem, and Performance Riverside. She has danced in conjunction with the Alwin Nikolais Dance Company and the American Folk Ballet. She has also performed as a soloist and ensemble member with multiple choirs throughout Utah and Southern California including In Jubilo Women’s Chorale of Southern Utah.
She was resident choreographer for the Utah Shakespeare Festival Playmakers children’s theatre for five years and has worked collaboratively with the children’s theatre program at the Utah Festival Opera. She has choreographed for numerous dance concerts, theatre productions, and opera productions throughout Utah and Southern California. She worked with the students in the Moreno Valley Unified School District and has also taught dance workshops throughout the Iron County School District in conjunction with SUU and USF. She also taught competitive dance at California Dancer Dance Studios in Southern California, the same studio she grew up dancing at competitively for fifteen years.
Mrs. Knight is thrilled to be a part of the Faculty at SLSPA and to get to share her love and knowledge of theatre, music, and dance with her students. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her husband and family, being outdoors, and watching as many musicals and operas as she can get ahold of.
