The National Honor Society was founded in 1921 and has been established to “encourage academic achievement while also developing other characteristics essential to citizens in democracy” (National Honor Society Handbook, 1997).
The organization focuses on scholarship, character, service and leadership. Students will have the opportunity to participate in chapter meetings, service projects, and occasional field trips to enhance their experience in the National Honor Society and SLSPA. Activities or meetings may occur during the school day, during lunch, or in the evening.
