New Student Placement: Dance, Music, and Theatre

Salt Lake School for the Performing Arts (SPA) offers a wide variety of performing arts training. The majority of our upper level classes are by placement and pre-requisite only. As such, all new students who would like to take an upper level course must take a placement class for the genre in which they wish to enroll. SPA will be holding placement classes for dance, voice, piano, theatre, and musical theatre on August 14, 2018 from 9am -3pm. Attendance is required for placement in any upper level classes with pre-requisites. Below you will find the start time for each genre. Some of the placement auditions overlap, so as soon as you have finished being placed in one genre, you can make your way to another. Dance is the only exception to this. Anyone wishing to be placed in any dance genre must present themselves from 1-3 pm in the dance studios.
Placement class start times:
Theatre 9am
*Please come prepared with a 1-2 minute monologue.
Musical Theatre and Voice- 10am
*See attached word document for information on what to prepare.
Piano 11 am
Dance 1 pm:
*Attention dancers: please come in dance clothes and bring ballet slippers/jazz shoes if you have them. You must take the entire placement class, even if you only plan on taking one style of dance.
Please note that failure to participate in a placement class may result in your being placed in the beginning levels for a particular genre. If you are unable to attend the placement classes on the 14th, please contact the front office to make alternative arrangements.
