Salt Lake School for the Performing Arts (SLSPA) is thrilled to be in a new home, the former Rosslyn Heights Elementary School, located three blocks east of Highland High School (HHS) near the Sugar House Park area.  SLSPA has converted the former elementary school into a performing arts high school with 3 dance studios, (w/ sprung floors), dance and music performance spaces, music rooms, a piano lab, acting studios, and a new black box theatre.

Salt Lake School for the Performing Arts is a unique public charter high school.  SLSPA is chartered by Salt Lake City School District and partners with Highland High School.  SLSPA students have the best of two educational worlds: high-level performing arts classes, taught by talented working professionals, and a full range of academic classes, through HHS, including Honors, AP, and concurrent enrollment classes.  SLSPA students take their core classes from HHS and their performing arts classes from SLSPA.  Students are shuttled between the two campuses by bus (a three minute ride) throughout the day. SLSPA students are carefully prepared for the post high school world.

Students at Salt Lake School for the Performing Arts are a diverse community of learners.  They come from many areas of Salt Lake, Utah, Davis, Weber, Wasatch, and Tooele Counties.  SLSPA assists with transportation by providing a shuttle bus to and from TRAX/FrontRunner before and after school.  Because of SLSPA’s small class sizes, and similar student interests, SPLA students develop friendships and associations that are uncommon in most public high schools.
